Country home and acreage on a budget

Personally I think Southern Missouri is the best place for less wealthy survivalist types to settle and for people looking for a bug-out or getaway on a budget.

Some of you Californians should look at what you get for your money.

Here's an example.

This is in a low crime area in SE Missouri. What could you buy in Califonia for 89 grand? There's no Mexicans there either!
Talk about low cost of living.

Correct...I have been buying properties in Missouri...I think Arkansas and Missouri have more properties with Springs than anywhere in the US....which was a big plus for me.

wow, looks unbelievable for that price. I'll bet in the spring it's beautiful there.

We just bought 8 acres near Springfield MO over the weekend. Obviously we came to the same conclusion.

We're moving next month. :applause_

I can't even look at the link. I did my basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri ("Fort Lost in the Woods, Misery"). I made a promise to myself that once I got out of that state I wound never, ever go back...under any circumstances.

Funny note...I would sleep about 3 hours a night on average in basic. When we would go out to the field I would see these grassy green inviting fields. I would think to myself...."Waylon, bet you can't wait to get out to that grassy green field, maybe you can sneak yourself a nap". Once I got out there, I was always disappointed to find every grassy green field there was covered with large stones where I could not lay down comfortably. No kidding, it is the rockiest place I have ever known.

It might be difficult to 'bug out' all the way from California to Missouri.

I like the look of Arkansas. I found a nice property with natural spring bordered on two sides by a national park. It was a bit pricey though.

I agree with hoarder, the price is hard to beat. Plenty of springs and wildlife too. There are plenty of caves in the area also.

You folks from Cali remember, when in Rome...

Like Waylon says there is lots of cover (big rocks) and building material (smaller rocks) laying everywhere. I've got a place in Northern Arkansas that's just a stones throw (a smaller one of course) from the Mo. line. Not permanent yet, but one of these days...

If you go like an hour north of the Ft. Leonard Wood area...in MIssouri...towards the south central part of the state..the Rocks mostly go away. My properties are between Kansas City and Springfield...

Welcome to the area! We live an hour and a half southeast of Springfield. It's a great area.

Ehhh. If I can't get a good cappuchino there, forget it.

Given the global warming situation, I'd have a few acres available in northern Canada...not sure how long-term that may be but it could be a good bet.
